Everyone is welcome at the Coppull Folk [formerly Alison Arms Folk] singaround at theĀ Alison Arms, every Wednesday from 9pm to midnight. If you play acoustic, sing, dance, recount stories or recite poems you'll get your turn to perform. It isn't compulsory, though. If you just want to come and listen your welcome as long as you applaud until your hands hurt. We meet in a function room just off the main bar (pair of doors to left of bar looking from the front door)
It really is 9pm, hang on someone will turn up, on very rare occasions it will be closer to 9.30pm.
Any acoustic performance is acceptable from traditional folk, through The Who to Scissor Sisters. We generally moved round the room clockwise giving everyone a turn to perform one piece if they wish. Duos get two pieces and trios three, etc. Most nights if you turn up on time you will get 3-5 turns. Unless you specifically ask us not to we will often join in, and will definitely do so if invited. There are very few rules, quiet when others are performing; and applaud everyone else with gusto.
Coppull Folk has a long history at various venues in the area, one day we'll get one of the older hands to recount some of this so we can share the more exciting bits with you.
